Resilient40 Europe is the European branch of the Resilient40 network which aims to bridge the voices of the Global South and the Global North. Its focus is to amplify the perspectives of African youth in Europe – voices that are too often underrepresented in climate dialogues. Through collaboration with youth organizations at both national and regional levels, Resilient40 Europe strives to raise awareness, foster connection, and create a space within the European landscape where young people can meaningfully influence climate policies, particularly in the areas of resilience and adaptation.

Vision
A united and empowered global community that mobilizes for climate justice and an European community that amplifies the voices of the Global South, driving sustainable and fair solutions to the climate crisis across continents.

Mission
Create an Europe-wide climate advocacy movement that connects citizens, organizations, and young leaders with global climate justice efforts, demanding a just transition away from fossil fuels, fostering food systems transformation and unlocking sustainable climate finance for the Global South.

Our Team

Finn Kentjens – European Chairperson – He is a student of international development with the focus on environmental justice, social inclusion and disaster and conflict reduction in the Netherlands. He is an active member of the Climate Justice Committee Velp, pushing the university to systematic change and implementing Climate Justice in all curricula. Additionally, he represents his fellow students in the Academic Participation Council. Outside of his study, he participates in a variety of climate and antifascist movements and tries to create change in decision making spaces and on the streets. He did his internship at Resilient40 in 2024 and continued working with the African team to enable and amplify African Youth voices in European policy discussions.

Ties – I am Ties Knol, and am currently studying International Development, with a personal focus on climate and environmental justice topics. I want to contribute to collectively combining grassroot knowledge and power, and working together to create a force to fight systematic struggles and invent just alternatives and solutions. Besides Resilient 40 Europe, I am part of the Climate Justice Committee Velp, in which we push educational institutions to take responsibility during times of climate crisis and inspire and activate students to stand up for injustice collectively.

Luaya – As a Mozambican student of International Development with a focus on environmental justice, and member of the R40 Europe board, I believe that the work we do at Resilient40 can bring a lot of positive change in the fight for climate justice, especially for those in the Global South who don’t have the same privilege and space to raise their concerns and influence the decisions that affect their future. Through the Resilient40 network I hope to help those voices reach a bigger audience and give them a fair chance to be heard in spaces where their realities are too often ignored.
