WE FACE OVERLAPPING AND INTERSECTING CRISES, INCLUDING ECOLOGICAL AND CLIMATE BREAKDOWN.

In pursuing climate action, policymakers cannot forget young people and they cannot forget the gap this creates come to implementation of the said policies we are never part of at creation. We are empowering youth around Africa and diaspora to mobilize for climate action and hold our leaders to account on both the climate and ecological crises.

RESILIENT 40 ADVISORY OPINION ON CLIMATE CHANGE STATEMENT

Africa’s Climate Crisis, Energy Transformation and Environmental Justice

The Global North holds disproportionate responsibility for the climate crisis and biodiversity loss, and disproportionate resources and capacity to respond. These should be moments to respond with urgency and to propose long-term solutions to our current systems’ dysfunctions.

Road to COP30

For the first time, COP30 will take place in the Amazon, the largest rainforest in the world and home to thousands of Indigenous and traditional peoples. It will be a key moment of reckoning. Failure to adopt urgent climate action contravenes not only the Paris Agreement target to keep global heating below 1.5°C, but also human rights obligations.

Rethinking the Financial and the economic system for climate justice

In contemplating the intersection of finance, economics, and climate justice, it becomes evident that our current international financial architecture significantly contributes to exacerbating climate change and widening environmental disparities.
