OUR WORK

WE ENVISION A WORLD WHERE COMMUNITIES THRIVE WITH NATURE ACROSS GENERATIONS.

The Resilient40 is a youth-led, regional climate action network that educates, empowers, and mobilises young people to lead on solutions for the ecological and climate crises that are rooted in science, aligned with traditional, local and Indigenous knowledge, and grounded in climate and intergenerational justice. Our mission is three-fold:

  1. To mobilise, lobby and influence decision-makers to take ambitious action for nature and climate by 2030 that creates co-benefits for social and human well-being;
  2. To elevate the voices of global south youth by providing a platform to share their stories and have them be heard; and,
  3. To bridge youth action between the biodiversity and climate movements, while building their capacity as stewards for nature and climate.

KNOWLEDGE-SHARING

We connect young people with scientists, experts, and knowledge-holders to build a strong knowledge-base among young people regionally and globally. Our by-youth, for-youth knowledge sharing creates space for young leaders to exchange information, ideas and hope, supporting a more diversified understanding of the nature-climate nexus.

CAPACITY-BUILDING

We aim to grow the capacity of African youth to advocate for solutions rooted in nature and justice and be involved in their planning and implementation locally. Through regional youth delegations and on-the-ground support and virtual skills-sharing, we help to equip young leaders with the skills and resources that they need to make change.

STORYTELLING

Through storytelling, we provide a platform for youth from all corners of Africa to tell their stories about nature and climate and have their voices be heard. We amplify these stories digitally and together with the storytellers at high level decision making events, and we connect storytellers for peer-to-peer learning and support.
